What does it mean to live life through yoga?
We think of yoga as synonymous with physical postures, manipulating the body as a way to conquer our physical ailments.
And although the physical teachings of yoga contain immense value, we can also turn to these ancient teachings as a way to guide us towards connection with ourselves, and in turn connection with the world around us; immerse ourselves in our humanity and terrain of our earthly lives.
I always come back to the original translation of “yog” from Sanskrit: union.
The path of yoga, I believe, is not asking us to transcend this plane of reality, but marry ourselves to the essence of life; the immortal light and energy within us and it’s reflection within all of life around us. In what ways can yoga turn us towards that connection, again and again and again?
